Are you sure this is how it's supposed to look?

So this one time...we painted a wall pink!

Okay, so when we bought our home, there was one wall I decided I wanted to paint...our dining room wall. I was going for a burnt orange or a dark reddish, to compliment our dark wood framed mirror and dark wood dining room set. Last Saturday I woke up ready to go for it. Ben and I went to four paint stores before finding the samples I was looking for...a base paint, with a colored glaze over top. I was going for texture...not just a flat color.

Ben and I settled on a 2x2 sample of what looked like more of an orange tone. Upon seeing the mixed paint, I realized the "sunset" color we were using as a base was a rather bright pink, instead of the orange I thought it was. Still, having done this before with an unexpected base color and seeing it turn out beautifully, we moved forward.

Ben and I began our painting, through which I learned something new about my husband.
He had never really painted before. So this was his first official painting project...and he got to experience it on our new home! He did a pretty good job if I do say so myself!
I don't have a picture of the finished product, but imagine this pink with a copper glaze. So now, instead of a burnt orange or dark red, we have a pinkish wall with metallic overtones. It reminds me of some kind of decor from India! It isn't quite what I was going for, but it is unique to say the least. We were debating keeping it or starting all over with more of an orange. It's still up for debate, but I think the end result is growing on us. I'll try to post a finished picture soon! (I have to lure you back somehow!)
Oh the joys of owning your own home!
