Gardezy Baby 11 weeks!

Okay, so I know it's been a little while since I blogged...sorry! The computer I usually use to upload photos has a broken chord (because I dropped the computer and busted it...the chord, not the computer...way to go me!) And so I have finally figured out how to upload pictures through our scanner onto Ben's computer...believe me it took forever! Mostly because Ben was sleeping and I didn't want to bug him. :)

Today I am offically 15 weeks! Yeah! Five more weeks and we will be half way through this pregnancy, which seems crazy. This puts me in the first half of my fourth month, for those of you who could care less about how many weeks we are or what that even means. ;)

We had an ultrasound back on August 19th, when the baby was 11 weeks. We decided to have some genetic testing done, since I have a half-sister whose first little boy was born with Down's Syndrome and we didn't know if it was something that would be a concern due to family history. It turns out that it isn't a concern and so far the odds are something like 1 in 5,700. We knew it wouldn't make any difference as far as us having the baby. We will have the baby regardless, but thought it was wise to at least check into the possibility and give ourselves a heads-up if it was something we might be taking on.

It ended up being a long appointment, one which we aren't likely to repeat with the next pregnancy. But, we had the joy of seeing our baby on the ultrasound monitor for about twenty minutes, which was amazing. The baby was flipping over and moving its hand to its face and just would not sit still. It was by far the most amazing thing I have ever seen! I had no idea they moved so much that early on. We also got to hear the heartbeat for the first time in the appointment which made me almost start to cry. It was by far the best day of this pregnancy so far. :)
Here are a few pictures from the ultrasound...

Here is the baby's face and tummy. Ben and I both think this picture makes our little one look like an alien. It was cool though because just as this picture was being taken the baby opened its mouth. We got to see the two halves of the brain, two eyes and eyelids, the spine, two arms, legs, hands and feet.

Here is one shoulder, arm and hand. The baby kept moving its arm up to its face during the ultrasound.

And here is one foot and the cutest little toes! I am so obsessed with baby toes! :)
Our next ultrasound is scheduled for the beginning of October. We will be at about 18 weeks and should be able to find out the sex of the baby, if all goes according to plan. You just never know!
