Baby Gardezy's First Photo Session!

Well, here he or she is! Ben and I went in for our first OB appointment on Monday, August 3rd. We hadn't expected an ultrasound quite yet, but were pleasantly suprised when the nurse told us that was how the midwife was going to confirm the pregnancy. We got to see the heartbeat, which was amazing! And she double checked and there's just one in there. :)

So here is baby Gardezy at 9 weeks, 1 day. Our new, official due date is March 7, 2010 (which by the way was exactly the date I had figured in my head from the time of conception...go me!). But the midwife said we might as well tell people the middle of March, as first babies rarely come on time!


(For those of you who are ultrasound challenged, that round thing on the right is the head, and the rest of the body is to the left.)

My older brother, Randy, said if you turn the picture to the left it looks like the baby is surfing the womb! :) That made me laugh.

Funny story, as the doctor is getting ready to do the ultrasound, the door to our room goes flying open and a nurse with a panic on her face comes rushing in. The three of us just kind of stare at her for a second, until she says, "The red light is on!" Apparently, as Ben positioned himself to be able to see the monitor for the ultrasound, he leaned up against the red "emergency" call button for the room. It's nice to know they would respond quickly to a real emergency, but I felt bad for the nurse who got a bit of a scare.
