Aloha!

I love Hawaii!

What an amazing trip we had for our "honeymoon".

We arrived on Thursday to a very warm and humid Maui. After getting "leid" (as Ben said), we found our luggage, got our rental car and were off to Auntie's house.

The first night we visited with Auntie and I met Grandpa, and then Ben and I had the house to ourselves to enjoy some margaritas and just hang out. The next night Auntie had a BBQ for us and some family and friends. LOVE the bbq'd pineapple...yummy!

The next day we went to the beach. I think I got most of my tan for the entire trip that morning before 10am. That evening we were treated to a beautiful luau. We enjoyed great food and amazing hula dancing and music! It was a very romantic evening...even with the probably three hundred other people that were there. I think that was my favorite thing we did the whole time.

Early the next morning we got treated to a snorkeling trip to Molekini - a crater off the coast of Maui. It was a blast...though I was a little apprehensive about sticking my face in the water and trying to breathe at first. I was blown away by how close the fish will come to you. Ben and I had a lot of fun in the water. The last ten minutes of being in the water, however, I started getting a little sea-sick. That was something I didn't know you could do while IN the water. I did okay once we got back in the boat and it was moving. We stopped at Turtle Bay to snorkel with the sea turtles (the thing I REALLY had wanted to do). Since I wasn't feeling well, I stayed on the boat. I don't know if that made it better or worse. But, I did see some sea turtles surface near the boat and that was incredible!!!

The next day we went to Iao Valley and walked around and then to Lahaina to have a nice lunch and walk through shops. The following day we drove the very long Road the Hana (we counted 40 one-lane bridges). That was a fun drive...especially for Ben - my little speed racer!

The next day was our last full day, so we spent part of the day at the beach and then had a bbq with Auntie, her boyfriend and Grandpa.

Thursday we flew home.

It was a wonderful trip. I think Ben and I became closer during our fabulous week together of doing whatever we wanted. Hopefully we will be able to go back sometime in the not too distant future...though the flight leaves a little something to be desired.
