It has taken quite a lot of planning to get our nursery figured out, but we are finally done...well, mostly. We got the room emptied and then a friend of Ben's from church, who is a professional painter, came and spent four days painting. We went with a creamy tan color on the walls, with one accent wall of stripes (tan, light blue and green), all different widths and in a random pattern. The colors match the sports bedding set we picked out. We are really happy with how the painting turned out and I am doubly happy because the stripes were Ben's idea. I was going a little nuts trying to figure out what to do with the room (thanks honey!).
We found our crib and changing table at two different stores, but they are an exact matching set, so it worked out perfectly! Ben spent one night putting them both together. (I'm so glad he knows how to build things!!!)
Here is the crib against part of the striped wall. I couldn't quite get the whole wall into the picture.
This is the rocking chair I've had since I was eight years old (my first furniture purchase...kind of a weird thing to buy when you're 8, but I'm glad I have it...I absolutely love it!) and the toy chest we recently found.
Here is the closet. We took the big, wooden sliding doors off the closet to make the room a little bigger. It actually ends up adding about two feet to the width of the room, which is perfect.
I found the blue cubby shelf and fabric baskets at Target and thought they would be great for storage, and then eventually for toys and books as he gets older. The dresser that's next to it will be painted the colors of the room to match and also shortened a little. But that may happen after the baby comes, depending on our calendar.
