Who is that?

Last weekend we had put up some pictures in our new home, including the one we had everyone sign at our wedding. On Friday, Ben and I were eating dinner at our dining room table, and I was reading all of the comments people had writting on our wedding picture. And then it happened. I looked up in one corner and saw a signature I had never noticed before!

I have spent a lot of time reading the comments on this picture. When we first put it up in our apartment, I stopped and read every single person's signature and note. And periodically, since then, I will stop and do the same, because it makes me smile to remember our wedding and all the people who made it so wonderful.

I must have stared at this particular signature for about ten minutes before I said to Ben,
"Who is that?"
"Who is what?" he said
"That signature, up in the corner." I said
"This one?"
"No, to the left." I said
"This one?"
"No next to that one" I said

I don't know why I didn't just get out of my chair and show him.

"Oh, I've never noticed that one before," he said "I always thought it was part of this one." he said, pointing to the one just to the side of it.

We both stared at the signature.

"It's been almost two years since we got married," I said, "how have neither of us ever seen that signature?"

"I don't know." He said.

So, we spent the next half an hour going through all of the people we could remember that were at our wedding...was it this person? Nope, their signature is over there. Was it this person? Nope, here they are. It was starting to make me crazy. I finally got out of my chair and began looking at the signature from every possible angle, trying to see if what we thought it said changed as you changed angles.

We called Ben's mom, asked her a couple questions. We went through the guest book that was beside the picture to try to cross reference or match the signature, no luck. We finally resorted to going through our entire guest list...still no luck. I even thought about going through the wedding pictures to see if anything jogged our memory.

Two days later, we still have no idea who the signature is from! It looks like "Gradie or Gradiv". The only thing we can figure is that maybe it belongs to Ben's Grandma or Great Grandma, who goes by Granny. But we are pretty sure they would have signed their name too, if it were either of them.

So now it is a complete mystery. We are both wondering if we had someone crash our wedding and we didn't even know it.

My next step will be to watch the wedding video and cross reference it with the wedding photos, to see if we can find an answer.

We both still think its just odd that almost two years after the fact, neither of us ever noticed this signature!
